Webinar description

Resource Management is often discussed through the lens of capacity, utilization, skills, and demand. But behind every staffing decision is a person with goals, energy levels, working styles, personal circumstances, and limits. That is what makes the human side of Resource Management so important - and so difficult. Resource Managers are constantly balancing what the business needs with what people can sustainably deliver. Utilization targets may clash with wellbeing. Project urgency may compete with development goals. A “perfect fit” on paper may not be the right fit when someone’s energy, motivation, or context is taken into account. So how do you make thoughtful resourcing decisions when the spreadsheet only tells part of the story? Beth Hunter and Lisa Reed will explore what it takes to bring more care, context, and trust into Resource Management - without losing sight of business outcomes. They’ll share how mature organizations handle human factors day to day, how RMs can build stronger relationships with leaders and teams, and how to navigate the trade-offs between individual needs and organizational priorities. Expect an honest, practical conversation about sustainable utilization, burnout prevention, stakeholder trust, and what it really means to see people as people - not just capacity to be filled.

What you'll learn:

  • What organizations that handle the human side of Resource Management well are doing differently day to day
  • How to balance individual wellbeing, development goals, and energy levels with business needs, utilization, and project demands
  • How to spot early signs of burnout, disengagement, or performance dips - and respond in a way that is supportive, fair, and practical
  • How to build trust when you need to say no, push back, or make difficult staffing decisions
